HJEM

HJEM is a curated antique and vintage home store; we designed and built its warm, editorial e-commerce site.

Context

HJEM (hjem.uk) sources one-of-a-kind antique, reclaimed and vintage pieces from around the world. The site had to feel like the shop: personal, warm and curated, nothing like a marketplace template, because for a store built on taste the website is the shopfront, the brand and half the buying decision.

The problem

One-of-a-kind stock breaks normal e-commerce assumptions: every product is unique, photography carries the sale, and the brand's character had to survive contact with a checkout flow.

What we built

A full e-commerce build with collections, journal and checkout, art-directed around large photography and a distinctive typographic identity that belongs to the shop, not to us. The identity runs through everything from the wordmark to the product pages, and the shop, journal and checkout hold the same editorial pace: photography first, interface second.

The outcome

A live store that looks nothing like our own sites, which is exactly the point: the design serves the client's brand, not our house style. The build covers collections, product pages, a journal and checkout, all art-directed around large photography, and it ships with the same performance and SEO discipline as our own products.
